Good Friday, friend! I hope your week has been productive and that you enjoy all your plans this weekend.

Our friends at Focus on the Family have generously offered to give away a free copy of the book The Best Advice I Ever Got on Marriage. I did a book review for them last week, which you can find here.
To enter in the giveaway, leave a comment below sharing the best advice you’ve ever received on marriage. You don’t have to be married to enter – any marriage advice will do. I will choose the winner at random using one of the random generator thingies and will post the winner on Tuesday.
Tell your friends so they can enter, too, even if it decreases your odds!
The best marriage advice I ever got was from my preacher during pre-marital counseling. He said, “It’s okay to go to bed mad. Sometimes you need the distance sleep can bring and things always look differently in the morning.”
The Bible’s teaching to “never let the sun go down on your anger” is figurative language meaning, don’t harbor resentment…don’t let anger build and dwell on it. Looking back, many of our biggest arguments happened well after 10 PM, and the more tired we became, the worse (and more ridiculous) the argument became. His advice has helped us remain civilized when we disagree and it’s true that we approach the conversation differently after a night’s sleep, good or not. 🙂
